Orly Mysterious Curse

Just a simple manicure for a change. I dug this unused Orly out of my collection box and decided to give it a shot! I pretty much love it.

Reddit colors for my cakeday!

Yesterday was my reddit cakeday, which means I was celebrating a year of being on reddit! I didn't have time to paint these beforehand because I worked doubles the last three days. I finally got the chance to paint them tonight and I decided to do a curvy/stripy unique design with the signature reddit colors!

I spent two hours on this manicure, with all polish and a thin nail brush. The white is Spoiled Correction Tape, the orange is Sinfulcolors Oh La La and the blue is China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-le

Let's see how long these last!

Between the fall/Halloween manicure and this one, I had just a plain purple/red color for work. On Saturday I worked a double, 8 hours and my nails went to hell and got all chipped. On Sunday I worked another double and it ended up being 11 hours. I broke two nails. I almost cried right then and there. Thank goodness they were on my right hand though! Anyway I worked today at my nanny job so I just got the chance to repaint my nails tonight and this is the result! I work again Wednesday and though I'm not supposed to wear these to work, I'm totally going to. They're going to get chipped anyway. I'll stop talking now. Swirls!

I used Orly Rose Radiance and Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Brilliant Bordeaux!

I'm ready for fall!

I just got my August Glamour in the mail today and looked through it. One of the spreads was a sneak peek of fall trends and this one picture stood out to me.

Photograph by KT Auleta

I absolutely loved the vest/trench coat and was so inspired by it that I decided to try the pattern. Well let's just say that the hexagons are very hard to paint with nail polish on such a small canvas. But here's the result.

Oh my goodness guys, I spent I think a whole 40 minutes on this one nail and it didn't even turn out how I wanted it. It's so hard to make straight lines with gooepy polish! So for the rest of the manicure I came up with random designs following the same color scheme.

For this manicure I used Sinful Colors Amethyst, Sinful Colors Oh La La and Love and Beauty Black Noir.

Well now I'm going to bed because I spent three hours doing my nails and I'm exhausted.

Testing the Waters

So at my new job, I'm not supposed to have crazy nail polish. The only approved colors are rosy pinks and soft reds which basically sucks. The first couple days I have my previous mani which was the ruby with the gold glitter and my manager didn't say anything so I'm really hoping they aren't strict about it. Today I had this beautiful lavender and she still didn't say anything. Now I'm gonna test the waters with this somewhat simple design.

For this manicure I used Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac, Spoiled Correction Tape and Sinful Colors Amethyst.

I'm just crossing my fingers that I'm not going to have a problem with my new job and my nail art hobby : (

2) I speak Chinese although not as good as I did back when I lived in China for three years
3) I live in Tennessee and am not ashamed to say I like the south, and the word yall
4) I’m either glued to my computer or sleeping at all times. I work as a nanny too
5) I don’t like kids which makes the whole being a nanny thing kinda hard
6) I’m pre-med but I’ve got seven years left *sigh*
7) I would not function without Diet Coke
8) The narwhal bacons at midnight. Shout out to all my fellow REDDITORS!

10) I really enjoy driving around aimlessly and singing obnoxiously loud to the radio
11) Blue is my favorite color!

Questions for Me:

1) When and why did you start blogging?
I’ve only had my blogspot for a couple weeks but I’ve been posting on Reddit.com for almost a year which is when I started doing nail art. I guess I started a blog so I could have one neat collective place to put all my work. Also, the giveaways, I really really want to do a giveaway! Sadly I don’t have enough followers to warrant a giveaway.

2) How many bottles of polish do you own?
293

3) What color do you have the most of in your collection?
Blue and purple!

4) What is your first memory of nail polish?
When I lived in China, I was in Middle School at the time, and you could get pretty nice manicures for dirt cheap so my mom and I would go together and pick out pretty colors. The first time my interest really sparked was two Christmases ago when I was working as a cashier and a customer came through with one of the OPI Burlesque collection glitters on and from there I went on a mad hunt for it. Been infatuated with polish ever since

5) What do your friends/family think of your hobby?
My friends have been really great about encouraging me and complimenting my work. I have begun to turn my mother into a polishaholic. She paints her nails every three days or so now lol

6) What are your hobbies other than blogging?
Playing with my beautiful dogs, hanging out with my family/friends/bf and watching tv!

7) What's your favorite nail polish color?
Oh goodness. You can’t ask a polish obsessed person this. Are you really going to make me choose? Please no. Okay, fine, China Glaze First Mate. No Sally Hansen Ruby Rush.

8) What would be your dream polish?
Something that changed colors. Not just with sunlight, literally. Like an LED nail polish. I’m not sure how that would work but hey, you did say ‘dream polish’

9) What is something you love, but everyone else hates?
I really can't think of anything unique. I love the smell of my polish remover, it smells like berries to me which is odd because its just regular acetone in a gigantic industrial bottle.

10) What trends do you love?
I like anything galaxy, seems to be prominent lately. I love the Revlon Moon Candy collection!

11) What trends do you hate?
I dislike crackle

Here are 11 up and coming bloggers I'd like to pass this along to:
1) Susy In Color
2) Once Upon a Polish
3) Nail Craze with Dayze
4) Misadventures of a Wannabe Martha
5) Erin's Beauty Bumbles
6) http://lesamowen.blogspot.com/
7) Secretary's Nail Art
8) Lacquered Libra
9) Beaching Nails

Rubies Dipped in Gold

So I've gotten a bunch of tags for the Liebster award that I need to get around to filling out but its so long, and I'm so lazy. Anyway, here is a manicure I did in ten minutes while I was rushing out the door to work at my new job at Ruby Tuesdays. YAY.

In brighter light

It's so hard to capture the luster of this mani. The base coat is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Ruby Rush which I'm on the hunt for now because I've almost used up 3/4 of my bottle and the gold is Milani Gold. I'm off to work again. Have a wonderful day lacqueristas!

The Incredibles! Guest post for Pixel's Polish

Hey lacquersitas! I got to do another guest post! The lovely talented lady behind Pixel's Polish has been awesome enough to let me do a guest post for her blog! She gave me the challenge of creating something inspired by The Incredibles and this is what I came up with. The three gradient nails were done using the sponging gradient method and the other two nails are freehand art which is my favorite kind.

For the white base coat of all these nails I used Spoiled Correction Tape. The red is Sally Hansen Cherry Red, the darker orange is Sinful Colors Oh La La, the medium orange is Spoiled Designated Driver, the bright yellow is Sally Hansen Lightening and the black is Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris.
I hope you all enjoyed seeing this as much as I did painting it!

Thanks again to Pixel's Polish for letting me do this very fun guest post.

Apple Blossoms: Guest Post for Apple Lacquer

Hey lacqueristas! The lovely lady behind Apple Lacquer has been kind enough to let me do a guest post for her wonderful blog, http://applelacquer.blogspot.com/ She gave me the challenge of doing a manicure inspired by her page background/theme so I thought I'd try to twist the whole apple blossom theme into a cute floral pattern. Hope y'all enjoy!

The base reddish/purple coat is Wet n Wild Ruby Rush, the pink blossoms are Wet n Wild Tickled Pink, the white is Spoiled Correction tape and the yellow is Spoiled Designated Driver. These can all be bought for around $3 each at drug stores!

San-Striped Coconut!

I have no clue what term has been coined for this design but I was way too lazy to look it up so I decided to call it san-striped. Mostly because it sounded cool and since I'm (almost, and used to be) fluent in Chinese and san means three, it made some sense.

The blue is Sally Girl Coconut and it actually smells like coconut once it drys!!

Periwinkle Periwinkle

I love this color! For once I just didn't want to put anything on top of this because it's so pretty. It's China Glaze Periwinkle.

Metallic Grecian Chocolate

I have so much nail polish that I haven't used so I dug this beautiful chocolate brown color out and fell in love immediately. Then I decided to spice it up with a gold design. End result: It reminds me of a Grecian design.

The metallic brown base is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Coco a go-go.
